Michael Kishbucher

Michael is the author of Legends & Lore of Little Beaver Creek. A dark and bloody past lurks beneath the folklore of the Little Beaver Creek watershed in Eastern Ohio and Western Pennsylvania. The first American frontiersmen hesitantly settled this region in the late 1700s following more than forty years of warfare. Fables like Barbara Davidson, the Pig Lady of Cannelton, sprang from this long, horrific conflict. The legends of Esther Hale, the White Lady of Sprucevale, and Gretchen’s Lock rose shortly thereafter, whereas the age of the Indian Rock petroglyph remains hotly debated. Today, most locals know these stories. But few know the purpose of Indian Rock or why Barbara’s restless spirit sometimes appears with a pig’s head. Using methods honed over twenty years of service as a Department of Defense intelligence analyst, author Michael Kishbucher uncovers the history and potential origins of these and other tales.

Little Beaver Historical Society

Our mission is to maintain, preserve, and restore the historical facts and material of the area: and to seek out historical sites of interest, and mark the same for the public and historical purposes.  We are a non profit organization that maintains three museums an authentic log cabin and working forge in Darlington PA. The Little Beaver Historical Society, Inc. was established and chartered in October 1962. The first president elected, Walter Landgraf, met with seven members in Darlington.

Our museums and attractions are open on select weekends June through September and by Appointment for larger groups. We have special exhibits for the holiday seasons. All attractions are free to the public with donations greatly appreciated. We are always looking for artifacts and vintage photos and documents for our collections. Items can be donated to the museum or lent for display and photos and documents can be copied and the originals returned. Also we are always looking for volunteers to join our group. Dues are $15.00 a year for an individual or family.
