Big Beaver Borough’s Veterans Memorial was dedicated in November, 1995, thanks to all the hard work of the Memorial Committee. The Memorial was dedicated to all the area residents who served their country in the armed forces.

Daniel Cunning, Big Beaver’s first Mayor, wanted to use the stones from the foundation of his barn for the monument. Eventually Ruth Cunning, Daniel’s wife donated the barn stones to the Borough. When the Memorial Committee received state and federal grants, construction began. The memorial includes park benches, walkways, a small park space and the monument itself. It sits in front of the Borough’s Municipal Building.

Constructed in 1911, the station has also gone by the name of Woodlawn station because of the former town of Woodlawn that was merged with Aliquippa in the late 1870s. After the station closed to passengers, it was used for several years by the Jones and Laughlin Steel Company as an office building. Today, the structure sits vacant just outside the city of Aliquippa. The station was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990 as the Pittsburgh and Lake Erie Passenger Station, Aliquippa.

Architectural style: Late 19th and 20th Century Revivals, Renaissance revival. The B.F. Jones Memorial Library is a historic library in Aliquippa, a city in Beaver County, Pennsylvania, United States. Named for steel tycoon Benjamin Franklin Jones, it was built in 1927 with money donated by Jones' daughter. As a product of the profits of the Jones and Laughlin Steel Company, for which Aliquippa was a company town, it resembled a Carnegie library. Rated a high-quality example of small-scale Renaissance Revival architecture, the two-story library is built primarily of Indiana Limestone with a bronze roof. Among its leading features are multiple plaster casts, windows of stained glass, carvings in imitation of those made by Italian sculptor Andrea della Robbia, and a large statue of Jones. In 1978, the library was added to the National Register of Historic Places for its architecture and for its association with Jones in the development of Aliquippa. The library continues in operation to the present day.

Erected as Beaver County's first library building, it was financed by Andrew Carnegie and designed by a leading Pittsburgh architect in grand architectural style that helped to redefine the image of the typical Carnegie library. Numerous community organizations have used its space, which remains in continued use as a library, and it has been named a historic site. The building gained much wider recognition in 1985, when it was added to the National Register of Historic Places; it qualified both because of its architecture and because of its place in local history. One of twenty such locations in Beaver County, it is the only one in Beaver Falls.[1] It continues to be used as a library, although the institution is now part of a larger library system serving the entire county.

Classes included languages, philosophy, and astronomy. The stone structure was built around 1806 making it one of the oldest buildings still standing in Beaver County. Though it was originally built as a school, the structure functioned as a railway station for a time, serving several railroads between 1883 and 1972. The structure is one of the oldest structures to have ever been used as a station. Notable alumni of the school were abolitionist John Brown,[5] Walter Forward, John White Geary, Daniel Leasure, William Holmes McGuffey. Mural depicts St. Cloud Hotel located a few blocks away at tjhe north end of Main Street and Cloud Way. Built in 1852, this was the first station built for Homewood (and the only one that has survived). It was primarily used as a hotel and tavern (The St. Cloud Hotel early and later the Valley Inn), but train tickets could be bought in the bar area. This was done until 1864 when a permanent station was built across the tracks.

“While all of the murals I have done pay tribute to the veterans or even just celebrate the love for our great country, the one here done in East Liverpool also paid tribute to Bill Melott, (someone’s) father and friend. He will be loved, missed and remembered by his family and fellow veterans at the (East Liverpool) VFW . . . I was honored to have been a part of that, and I hope my artwork brings a sense of appreciation and respect not just for Melott but for all veterans,” artist Joey Wilson said.

Museum of Ceramic’s director Susan Weaver (left) details the museum’s mural efforts before the unveiling along Broadway Street before noon Saturday. The Lady Slippers’ group commissioned local artist Christopher Leeper to do the mural, tracing the area’s rich pottery history from James Bennett, who brought the first commercial pottery to the area to the more modern day Fiestaware located across the Ohio River in West Virginia. Saturday’s visitors were invited to attend art shows by Leeper at the museum and multiple local artists at the Venture Real Estate building, and a celebratory pop-up party was set for 7 p.m. the same evening by the parking lot.
