The Huffman Letters: Civil War Letters Home to Beaver County, Pennsylvania by Jay Paisley provides first-hand accounts of the Civil War.  In 1861, sixteen year old William Henry Huffman of Darlington Township, Beaver County, enlisted in the Union Army. As part of the 100th PA regiment (Roundheads) based in Lawrence County, he participated in over 20 battles, including Fredericksburg and Vicksburg.  Paisley brings Huffman’s story to life through his discussion of the young man’s letters, highlighting his experiences during the war.
